The 97% using digital payment methods are doing so because it's convenient.  Cash handling - like anything that becomes less common - is therefore becoming more expensive.  The digital trend is not going to be reversed.  However, as Crowdstrike last summer showed us, a digital-only world is risky.  The key question is 'How to make cash handling cheaper?' 

Reimbursing victims tackles the symptoms but more needs to be done to tackle the root causes: social media being a playground for fraudsters and Financial Institutions allowing such dodgy funds to enter their accounts.

If only these 'premium' customers had another device capable of holding a payment instrument token in a secure element, with a biometric reader and an NFC antenna.  Oh wait.....
